A Little Pampering...

Yesterday after work, I was able to meet up with Amy O'Malley. We had a light dinner at a local restaurant. I haven't seen her in awhile and I needed a little girl time. It was fun. We just talked about life, caught up a little. For the last thirty minutes or so her boyfriend Don came by and joined us. It was good to catch up with her.

Today has been great! I slept in this morning until about 9:00 am and then I got up and started laundry. I did a couple of loads and then went to meet some other girls to get pedicures. That took about 2 hours and then I came back, got into my swimsuit and laid out on our deck. It was nice. I got some good sun and some good reading time! Nikki didn't quite know what to do about me hanging out in her "territory", but we had fun. Now I'm about to hop in the shower and run to the grocery store. I need to pick up some stuff for the house, but I am also going to Poker Night tonight. I am going to pick up some shrimp for the bar-b-q! :) Yummm. It is going to be a fun night.

TRAVIS COMES HOME TOMORROW!!! Oh...I'm so excited! I'm so ready for him to be home. I miss my hubby! He has had such a great time over there. Unfortunately, he never made it out dancing with the Nigerians...he missed his chance. That makes me a little sad, but that is okay. He had fun anyway.

I have to go wash the stink off of me now and go to the store! Have a great weekend!!!!

I Feel Great!

Okay...not exactly great, but sooo much better than yesterday. I really think this cold junk is going away! Woo hoo!! :)

Today was a good day. I was very productive and I just felt so much better. It is amazing how much of my personality goes away when I'm sick. I felt so hyper today. It must have been all the energy I've been saving by laying on my back in bed for a week!

Travis didn't go out with Nigerians tonight. He just went to play pool with a couple of the guys from the class, but he did say that he has tomorrow and Friday to go out dancing. I really hope he does! I mean come on...dancing with Nigerians in Scotland...that just SOUNDS funny! Unfortunately, he didn't take our camera. I'm hoping that his co-worker, Stephen, takes his! That would just be priceless.

Well, now that I'm feeling better, I'm going to take Nikki on a walk!

Girls' Night Out...

That is right...it is GNO (Girls' Night Out) and where am I? At home. I worked my first full day today since I got sick and I am miserable. My head is pounding, I feel extremely weak and my tummy is doing flips! I really hope this stuff goes away SOON!

Travis called me tonight. He had a good day today and evening. He was able to help out with the class some (they were covering material he already knew) and then tonight they had a reception for the class at the university. They had drinks and refreshments so he had some good conversation time with some potential clients. He was also able to start forming a rather good business relationship with the man who is teaching the class. He told Travis that he appreciated his help in class today and that he is a really good leader. This guy basically does what Travis wants to do eventually (He will have to explain it...I'm not so good at it). So, needless to say, Travis has now gotten his foot in the door and is doing very well with the people over there.

He is going to have an adventure tomorrow night though. Several of the people in the class are Nigeria. Imagine Nigerias who learned English in Scotland...I can't help but laugh! Anyway, they want to take Travis out dancing. That is right...dancing in Scotland with Nigerians. I love it!

That is it for now. I'm going to read up on Harry Potter! :)

Mother's Day Weekend

This weekend was full of travel for me. Saturday I went to San Antonio to spend time with Mom and Dad and yesterday I went to Bryan to spend Mother's Day with Judy and Bill and the rest of the gang there. It was good to see everyone. It killed me not to be able to hold the twins (because of my cold), but it was a great visit. Muna and I cleaned up the dessert table! She was so precious, making sure that I had enough to eat. Everyone took very good care of me and kept asking how I was doing without my hubby.

Travis was able to call me yesterday on my drive down to Bryan. We talked for about 20 minutes ($10 phone call). It was good to hear his voice. The first couple of days were okay without him, but it is time for him to come home. He flies in on Sunday, so I don't have too long to wait. He is having a good time though.

San Antonio

I just got back from San Antonio. Mom and Dad were down there for a convention that Dad goes to every year for his continuing education credits. It was good to see them. It was the first time I had seen Mom since she went to Germany. We compared stories of our trips over there and it was fun. We walked, ate and shopped...a lot! It was a great time.

Now, I'm back at the house and just hanging out with my puppy. Travis is in Scotland and enjoying himself. They just checked into a hotel there in Inverness. He is having a hard time because he rented a car and they drive on the left side of the road (he paid extra to get an automatic instead of a manual). He had a flat tire because he hasn't gotten use to driving on the left side yet. He comes back next Sunday...I can't wait!

I am going to try and get some stuff done around here before the week starts. If you have been reading my blog, you know that I have been sick. Unfortunately, going to San Antonio didn't seem to help anything. I still feel pretty cruddy, but I am hoping that a little activity helps it go away by Monday. We will see.

Sick at Home: Day #2

You know the illnesses that just don't want to leave? Yea...they are a pain in the buttocks!

This is day 2 of being home in bed. Thank goodness for wireless internet, eh?! Playing spades all day and loving on my doggie!

Travis is in Houston today, just for the day. He left at 5:00 this morning to catch a flight. He is going to fly back tonight, pack some more, and fly out to Scotland tomorrow afternoon. He will be there in Dundee until Sunday the 20th. This will be the longest we have been apart since we got married...which hasn't been very long.

Mom and Dad are in San Antonio for Dad's annual Dental Convention. I am going to try and have dinner with them tomorrow night (if I can get out of bed). I am excited to see them! Mom has been back from Germany for a few days, so it will be good to see her finally.

I don't have much else to say, but hopefully I will get out of this bed tomorrow!

Sick At Home...

Well, the past couple of days have been hard. I woke up Monday morning feeling pretty woozie. My stomach felt really tight and uncomfortable. So, I tried to eat some peanut butter and cheese crackers to help calm it down. That usually works really well...not this time. Nothing! So, at noon I went home to rest and hopefully I would be able to get to work the next day. Tuesday morning I woke up and felt awful! My nose was all stuffy, I couldn't breathe, my head hurt from all the coughing and I had a meeting with two people from New York and Tennessee. That is right, a meeting that I could NOT miss. So, I drugged myself with Tylenol Cold medicine and went in. It was a pretty informal meeting, but I kept sniffing and coughing and leaving the room to blow my nose. So at about 3:00pm they finally told me to just go home and we would conclude with a conference call when I felt better. So, I went home, took more medicine and slept. I felt worse when I woke up. Travis finally came home and played Zelda for me (I like watching him play video games. He often says, "I feel sorry for all the gamers.") Then I started to crave Taco Cabana's tortillas and queso and I needed stronger meds. So, we went out and got more medicine (house brand from Walgreens...always works better than the brandname stuff) and food from Taco Cabana. We got home and Travis got the front door unlocked just in enough time for me to run to the bathroom and get sick. Yay! I hate being sick!!! It is the most helpless and miserable feeling ever! Anyway, I am staying home sick today and I am really hoping that I can get back to work tomorrow. I have to teach a class on Monday and I have so much to get done before that. I'm sure you all enjoy reading about how sick and miserable I am, but that is about all that is going on in my world...sorry...

The Weekend is Over...

On Saturday Travis and I drove up to Arlington for the ISCC meeting for the counselors. It was great to see everyone again. The only sister missing from the scene was Dava Lynn. We missed her! This is Travis' first year at this camp so it is going to be so much fun. He is getting excited too! It will be very different having my hubby there with me the whole week.

After the meeting we headed down to The Woodlands to see Travis' parents. They were having a guest speaker Nick Vujicic, from Australia, at church. This man is amazing! He is a man with no limbs. That is right, born with no limbs, whatsoever! He is 24 years old! Please go check out this website...www.lifewithoutlimbs.org. This man truly is an awesome inspiration to all.

Some of Travis' family came up from College Station to hear him also. Meridon and Danny Warden, Aunt Sandie, Tara Jo and her friend Kirby, Cousin Debie and Muna (Travis' 92 year old grandmother, also amazing) all came. We went to lunch at Willie's and had a blast. Here are a couple of photos.

Busy Busy Busy..

Travis comes home tonight! Yay!! He has been in Houston and the next several weeks will be filled with travel for him. It isn't bad when his trips are spread out, but when they are all packed into several weeks in a row, it gets lonely. I'm am happy that he is coming back though! :)

Today was a stressful day. Not a lot happened, but it was just full of information and more planning at work (meetings, phone calls, emails, etc). My head hurts!

Christina and Dax come back from Costa Rica on Saturday. We have been watching Christina's dogs Sarah and Guinness. The big one is Guinness, the white one is Sarah and the other one is ours (Nikki)...

I am going to tidy up a bit before Travis gets home. Have a great end to your week!

The House...

So, I have had a couple of requests for more pictures of the house. Here they are. The first two are of the guest bedroom,
then two of the office/guest bedroom,

the guest bathroom,
the hall,
and a couple of the kitchen (Please forgive the cluttered counter, we have a tendency to just put stuff down thinking, "I'll come back and get that...").

I don't have pictures of the rest of the house because it is still dirty! We need to do a little more cleaning before I display the house. Anyway, Travis bought this house in July of 2006, so almost a year ago. I have been able to make it my own and it helps that I was with him, helping him shop for houses, so I had a little say in the house! :) We haven't done a lot to fix up the house other than paint the master bedroom and tile the master bathroom. It has been fun dressing the place up with all the gifts we received for the wedding. I will update with the rest of the tour after I get the other areas of the house clean!

Catching Up On Life...

We found the camera cord! Yay! So, here are the pictures along with the stories that I have wanted to tell, but haven't because I didn't have the pictures.

1) We got a new light fixture for the dining area. We actually got this the weekend we got back from the honeymoon. Mark, Judy and Bill came to our house and helped us get settled in our new home. It was a nice gift...

2) We got our china hutch. We got this the same weekend as the light fixture above, but it wasn't delivered until about a week and a half later. I was so excited! Travis surprised me with it one night when I got back from work. They called him at work to tell him it was ready to be picked up, so he got a friend (Dax) to help him pick it up and they showed up with it that night. He is such a great husband!

3) Our camping trip the weekend of April 13th through the 15th, was a blast. Here are a few pictures of the trip. We went hiking on Enchanted Rock and Nikki was awesome. She has no fear. She was up and over those rocks long before we were. She was so cute!

I think that about sums it up. I'm sure I will think of more or find more pictures I wanted to share, but I will spare you all and just put them online for all to see. I hope everyone is having a great week!

27 April 2007

The Weekend...

This week ended up a very productive and good week. Travis was out of town for the week (for work) and so I got a little done around the house. I mostly spent time with Nikki though. I think we were both needing our Travis back.

Since Travis and I started taking a walk every morning together with Nikki, she has been nosing her leash almost constantly, begging to go out for a walk. I think she likes it out there! She had a hard time staying in her kennel last night across the room, by herself, so I moved her bed over beside me on the floor. She was able to sleep there all night and didn't move from her bed. I, however, tossed and turned all night long! Oh well...motherhood! :)

Dax and Christina (friends of ours) are going to Costa Rica for the week. They are leaving tomorrow morning and Travis and I are taking them to the airport. Their flight leaves at 7:00 am so we will have to pick them up no later than 5:00 am.

Then we are headed to Arlington for the Pleasant Ridge Homecoming. I am excited about seeing people from the youth group that I haven't seen in years. Travis is excited to see some old friends from Sooner Youth Camp too.

After the Homecoming, we are headed back to Austin and we will be dog-sitting for Christina. She has two dogs. One is a big black lab (Guinness) and one is a small mix of some kind (Sarah). I was told at one time what kind of mix Sarah is, but I can't remember. She is so cute and cuddly! I love her!

It will be interesting to see how Travis and I cope with having more than one dog around here. We have put the idea of getting a second dog out there, but I don't think it is the best idea right now. We realized that adding another dog to the picture made traveling a lot more difficult, and expensive. I don't know...maybe I can convince him to just start having kids instead! :) Just kidding!!! I want time with my husband first.

I have several pictures that I have wanted to put on here for awhile now, but somehow we have lost the cord to the camera. Okay...I say "somehow" because my wonderful, handsome, brilliant, kind (and much more) husband is not so good with cords. He loses them. He can't help it. He just does. He goes on business trips and without fail forgets his power cord for his laptop or phone. So, he goes and buys another one. We have five billion cords just laying around this house. It is hilarious! So, as soon as we come back into contact with technology (after the honeymoon)...he loses the first cord he lays his hands on. The camera cord is gone. I love my husband!

25 April 2007

Jana Needs:

1) Your help.
2) psychotropic medications (I'm sure there are many who would agree...)
3) to get her butt in here! (Can I bring the rest of me too? ...)
4) an agent
5) to be locked away for a long, long time. (Do you see a trend here?)
6) shoes badly
7) them by Monday, August 27.
8) to post some stuff on here
9) 150 x 12 = 1800
10) help with some questions
11) to get the stick out of her @$$, and visit.
12) ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
13) to find that peace and soften her anger towards her Father (WHAT?! Are you kidding me?)
14) to get over it, and either come up with something original to write about or quit writing. ...
15) to reveal why she is so wierd

This was soo fun...just google "your name needs". Thanks Juli!

21 April 2007

No. We have not found out the name of the weird fish we found on the honeymoon. If anyone has any clue...please let us know!! :)

This week has been full of family! Slade (Dava Lynn's husband) was down here in Austin for the day on Thursday for some meetings. So, he stopped by my office on his way back to Abilene. It was great to see him! It is always fun to be able to spend time with my brothers-in-law away from their families and away from Mom and Dad's house. They are usually taking care of kids or the sisters are catching and I don't really get a lot of opportunity to just hang out with my brothers. So, it is nice whenever I get the chance.

The on Friday, Kari Ann (sister #1) and her oldest, Bailey came into town. Bailey is a member of the Future Problem Solvers of America and her team won first place in their local division. They were here in Austin for the awards ceremony and to find out who would be going to Fort Collins, CO for the international competition. Bailey was so cute up there getting her medal. Today, Travis and I met them (and the rest of the team) to go to the Bob Bullock Museum, the Spirit of Texas theatre and the IMAX where we watched a show on Mummies. It was very interesting. It was great to spend time with them too, as I rarely get any of my sisters on their own except Juli Beth.

I love that I get to spend so much time with Juli Beth when I go into Arlington, but it never quite seems enough. When you live with someone for years, growing up, you take for granted that your best friend lives right there with you and is always around. I miss getting to do everything with my sister, but I appreciate the time that we do have so much more now.

Life now is good. I am enjoying married life oh so much! It has been so fun to set up house and get little projects done around the house. In fact, Travis is at Home Depot right now getting more supplies to clean up the garage! Woohoo!! :)

On that note, I should go. I have some house cleaning to do and if I don't get started...I may never get it done!

Love, JK

10 April 2007

So, I'm really bad about keeping up with this thing! I know I promised a day by day of the Honeymoon, but I just don't think that is going to happen. I am going to attempt, however, to give you as much detail as I can right now. :) Here is the link to our pictures so that once you read this you can match the pictures with the stories: picasaweb.google.com/travismcham.

Here is our Honeymoon in Costa Rica (Travis would tell me day by day what we were doing. I didn't know from each day what was in store for me. He kept it a great surprise!):

March 18th - Travis and I woke up at our hotel in Ft. Worth (we slept in), met the family for lunch at Tony's Pizza and then Mom and Dad drove us out to the airport. We caught our 4 hour flight to Costa Rica at 4:20 pm and landed in CR at 7:30 pm their time. It was a nice flight, not too long, not too short (I love plane rides). We landed in San Jose and stayed at a hotel there for the night.

March 19th - Travis and I got up and had a wonderful fresh fruit breakfast in the hotel restaurant and then met our taxi that was going to take us on a 2 and 1/2 hour drive to Playa Herradura (Playa = Beach). We stayed at the awesome Marriott resort Los Suenos, which is a huge place for sport fishing. The beach wasn't much to speak of. It was very rocky and you could tell that people didn't come there for the relaxing beach, but for the resort. They had a marina there that had some beautiful plants and flowers. When we got there we just settled into our rooms and got our swimsuits on. We went down to the maze of a pool! I'm not kidding...just wait til you see the pictures. There were walkways that crossed over this pool because it was so big. One of the dead ends wrapped around the restaurant and one ended up at a poolside bar. You could actually get food there too, it wasn't just a bar. Where the pool ended there was a grassy area that had chairs, tables, and hammocks. Just beyond the grassy area...was the beach!

March 20th - Another day of relaxing at Los Suenos. Travis and I got a massage and just relaxed all day long. We walked down to the marina and explored a bit and then when swimming some more. It was so calm and relaxing...there just really isn't much more to say about it!! It was just what we needed after a hectic and wonderful wedding! :)

March 21st - After a great relaxing stay at Los Suenos, we got up on the second day and met our private car that was ready to take us to Arenal. This is a live and ACTIVE volcano! It was absolutely beautiful!!! There is a constant lava flow, so not much chance for an eruption. The last eruption was Jan. 1st of 2000. When we got to Arenal we got settled in and discovered that our bed had a great view! Framed in the wall size window in front of our bed, was Arenal. It was awesome! We went exploring around the area that night and Travis wrestled a crocodile! :) You'll see the picture!

March 22nd - Travis surprised me with White Water Rafting!!! We both had never been and we were so excited! Travis doesn't do well in water (but he jumps out of planes without a problem) and I love the water. Every activity and surprise of this trip made it so apparent that Travis planned this trip with me in mind. I have the best husband ever!! Anyway, white water rafting was a blast and we met some great people! The two people in our raft (other than the guide) were a married couple, Gaby and Bernard, from Mexico City. They were there celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary! After white water rafting, Travis and I headed into town for some souvenir shopping. Now, Arenal is in the smack dab middle of the rain forest. The only time we saw a rain storm...or even a drop of rain for that matter...was when we decided to go into town. It was quite funny!

March 23rd - We got up and met another private car that took us to Lake Arenal. A ferry took us across Lake Arenal and as we banked (no dock, just dirt) there was a little guy crouched down in the grass. As we got off the ferry, the man got up and introduced himself as Reuben...our guide. Reuben took our bags and lead us back into the trees (we were awfully trusting of these people) where 4 horses were tied up. We tied our bags to the pack horse and then all three rode our horses for 4 hours around the lake. At the end of our journey around the lake, we ate at a little Soda (deli) on the side of the road...in the middle of nowhere! That is where the pictures of the psycho parrot come in. It would not get off me and then it decided to eat...my...hair!!! It was crazy! Ok...so after we had the most wonderful meal of the entire trip (arozz con pollo "rice with chicken") we got into another private car that met us there and we drove for an hour and a half to Monte Verde (Green Mountain). This was in the Cloud Forest. They call it the cloud forest because you are literally above the clouds! The hotel there was absolutely unbelievable! Check out the pictures!

March 24th - We woke up to find that we were ABOVE a full rainbow!! It was beautiful!! The adventure for that day was a Zipline tour through the canopy of the cloud forest! Ahhhh!! It was so much fun! We went on 11 ziplines. The tallest (farthest off the ground) was over 600 feet tall. The longest was over 1/2 a mile long. That one we had to go tandem (two people) because no one had the body weight to get them all the way across. Travis and I almost didn't make it!!! We barely cleared the platform. It was awesome!!!! After the zipline we went back to the hotel, got a hot stone massage and just relaxed.

March 25th - This morning greeted us with yet another full rainbow. God showed his beauty to us each day we were there and it was such an awesome experience! We got packed up and ready for our next adventure. We ate breakfast at the restaurant at the hotel and then met our private car that was going to take us to Playa Ocotal. (I did not know where we were going until we arrived.) This was a real beach, not like Playa Herradura!! It was awesome! The sand was a layered mixture of volcanic black sand and white beach sand! Hermit crabs were everywhere and so were little black (regular) crabs. While we were exploring the beach and the rock out-croppings, high tide came in. It came in so fast and so calm that you didn't realize what was happening til it was over! Travis and I went into town that evening and scoped out a diving shop there. That was when he told me that the next day we were going scuba diving (my first ocean dive ever) and going for a sunset sailboat tour!

March 26th - Travis and I woke up this morning soo excited for the day! Right away we got up and got ready for scuba diving. We headed out to sea and did two dives. The first was at a place called Monkey's Head and the second at a place called Turning Point. We were so lucky! Even though visibility was only about 15 feet we still saw 3 sharks (that is right...at the most 15 feet away from us), a seahorse, an octopus, lots of blow fish and a sea snake! We saw a bunch of God's creatures that were just beautiful. Oh yea!! We saw tons of sting rays!! We saw some spotted rays that were about a foot wide and then we saw about 10 to 15 sting rays that were at least 4 to 5 feet wide. When we came around one huge rock we saw, lying on the floor of the ocean, a sting ray that was massive! Travis is 6'1'' and his arm span is the same. Travis laid out, spread eagle, and still did not cover the top of this sting ray. It was soo big! The sharks: one was a baby about 3 feet long under a rock, and then one was about 5 feet long just swimming around some rocks and the 3rd was at least 7 feet long (white tip reef shark) circling inside an alcove. They were so beautiful...I love sharks!!! After our dives we headed back to land. A few hours later Travis and I headed back out to sea on a 49 foot sailboat. We had two guides on the boat and we just sailed around for about 3 and 1/2 hours. We sailed until the sunset was over and headed back to land. Travis' favorite picture of the trip was taken on the boat just at sunset (it is labeled as his favorite)! It was so pretty out there!

March 27th - After our long day out at sea the day before, we got some great rest and were up the next morning packed and ready to go back to San Jose for the last night. We were packed and ready early so we just hung out and enjoyed the beach a little more. About 1:30 we hopped into the car and drove 5 hours to San Jose. We got to San Jose around 6:30, had dinner, got into our swimsuits and spent a good couple of hours in the hot tub. It was so great! The hotel was wonderful and open. There were literally no doors to this hotel except to the rooms. It was just...open! They had a golf course that our room overlooked and had a great view of the city.

March 28th - Bittersweet...we headed for the airport the next morning. It was a great trip and definitely one that I will never forget! My husband did an amazing job of planning the perfect trip. God is such an amazing and wonderful God to have created all that he has and to have blessed me with such an amazing mate for the rest of my life!

Enjoy the pictures and let me know if you have any questions about them.

30 March 2007

We are back! Travis and I got back to Arlington Wednesday afternoon. We had such a nice long honeymoon in Costa Rica to relax and unwind from the wedding. It was awesome! There are so many stories and I want to share them all. There is too much to say in sitting so this is the plan... when I get back to Austin, I will start writing out stories from the honeymoon by days. I will start with day one and work my way to the end. I am going to try to do a day of the honeymoon per day. So this should take a good ten days or so. There may be some days in there where I don't get to my computer or have much time to write everything down, so please hang in there with me.

I just wanted to write a little something letting everyone know that we are back and safe and very happy!

Thank you to everyone who was there to be a part of our wedding and make it such a special day!

Love all...

14 March 2007

Sorry I haven't written in awhile...I have been a little preoccupied with wedding plans. In fact, this is probably the last entry for a long time. We are going on the honeymoon right after the wedding and won't be back home until April 1st. We are flying back in on the 28th of March and staying to go to the Mavs game on the 30th. Then we will head back home to Austin.

It has been a fun journey and now we are about to start a new adventure together in our new life as husband and wife. Wow, exactly 3 days from right now I will be at my reception! This is crazy! I am so excited and so ready! I'm ready to see my sisters and have a little bit of time with them. I'm ready to get married. I'm ready to find out where the heck I am going on my honeymoon. I'm ready to be Mrs. William Travis McHam! I'm all giddy now!!! :)

Tonight Travis and I are driving up to Arlington. He is going to drop Nikki and me off at Mom and Dad's and then head on to Dallas for work. He will be working up until Friday afternoon (just making it to the rehearsal). He was supposed to only work Friday morning and be there if we were to need anything, but his boss asked him to stay a little longer. It will all work out though...

Tomorrow I am going to get a massage and relax! I have some presents to wrap and a few last minute things to get done that will be on the to do list. I am also going to go with Sara Jane to her brother Zach's grave site. She hasn't been back since the funeral (a year ago) and I haven't been at all. It will be good to finally say goodbye. He died in a car accident a year ago March 10th.

Friday is the day for primping! The girls and I are going to get our pedicures and I am getting a manicure. We are getting all dolled up! :) Then we are off to the rehearsal and dinner. After that I have my lingerie shower...woo hoo! Lots of goodies! :) Then...lots of sleep for me!

Saturday...I GET MARRIED...to the most wonderful man ever! I am so blessed to have found Travis. I am very thankful for the love that God has allowed us to share and the life he is allowing us to live together.

I can't wait to see all of you who are planning on coming.

Love,
JK

04 March 2007

13 Days...

Less than 2 weeks and I will be Jana Kay McHam! I am so excited. All of the plans are coming together and I am ready to see all of the people who have touched our lives gathered in one place for the special day.

Last week was my first week back in the classroom as a trainer at work. It went really well and I got some great feedback from my new boss. It felt so good to get back into the classroom. The people in the class are so energetic and enthusiastic about what they are learning, so that makes it easier.

I had so much I wanted to say on here, but honestly, my brain is fried and I can't remember any of it! So, I will try and write more tomorrow!

Love
JK

This is great!

The 1st wedding shower...

This weekend in The Woodlands we had our first wedding shower. Actually, the shower was held for me by Travis' mom's good friends! They are so sweet and wonderful. It was beautifully decorated and everyone was so generous with their gifts. We got mostly kitchen tools, silverware, backware and lots and lots of great stuff!! I'm ready to get to cooking! :)

When Travis and I got back into town we pulled up to his house and there was another package on the porch from one of my cousins. It was a food processor! Yay!

I have the day off tomorrow so my job is going to be cleaning out the cabinets in the kitchen and organizing with all the new gadgets and fun stuff. I am so excited!

AND...my wonderful fiance bought me the coolest camera ever for my wedding gift. I'm going to come back with some awesome pictures of the honeymoon!

Alright, time to stop bragging and get back to my husband-to-be...

Love,
Jana Kay

The 1st wedding present...

Travis and I got our first wedding present on Wednesday! There was a box on Travis' front porch and it was a full place setting of our china!!!! I am so excited. Travis was like a little kid at Christmas. :) We are getting so excited about the wedding and the presents act as a reality check that this is really happening!

We have a wedding shower this weekend in The Woodlands. Judy's (Travis' mom) friends are hosting it for us. It is going to be lots of fun!

Here are a couple more engagement pictures too...

11 February 2007

The "To Do" list is getting smaller...

I have been in Arlington for another weekend of wedding planning. It has been really fun! Yesterday I got my hair cut, ordered napkins, picked the flavor of cakes, punch, and decorations. Then I finalized my bridal portrait time on February 24th. Mom and I went to the mall to shop for wedding party gifts and Travis got his hair cut. Finally, we went to Barnes and Noble and got a guest book. We actually ended up making our own. It looks awesome!!
Today we took engagement pictures. They are so good! Mom is the best photographer. The light was great. We didn't have to fight shadows or anything. It is a good thing too because it was chilly outside! I will put some of the pictures at the end of this post.

We still have plenty to get done, but that is for next time. Now it is time for Travis and me to go home, so I am going to go pack now. In the meantime...enjoy the pictures...

31 January 2007

Hello All! So Travis and I mailed off most of our wedding invitations yesterday morning! This is all so exciting! :)

I have great news! I got a promotion today. I am now a trainer for my company. This is really exciting for me because I loved training in Colorado and I even applied for a training job here, but didn't get it. So, I'm back in the classroom! :) Yay!

Alright, time to go grocery shopping!

JK

19 January 2007

Just another day! Today was my Tuesday and Friday of the working week. I was so tired today! You would think that after three days of doing nothing would relax you! But Noooo!

Anyway, today was just another normal day at work. But...tonight...

Tonight is...DATE NIGHT!!! Yay!! Travis is cooking me dinner and then we are going to a movie! I'm excited!

Last night was our third meeting with Roger, our premarital counselor. He is so wonderful! We have great conversations and it is very insightful. He even asked us at one point, when talking about our conflict management and communication, "Why are you here?" Apparently, we don't need too much help! :) The advice is great though and we are having to think about and plan for situations that we hadn't thought of before. It has been very good for us.

It is less than 2 months until we get married...prayers are appreciated! :) J/K I'm so ready!!

17 January 2007

3rd Day Iced In! It is crazy here! Even though the temperatures are slightly above freezing the ground is still icy and slushy. The weather people are saying that everyone should stay inside and not go anwhere. The driveways are slick and scary! Oh well...

Through all of this I have gotten some done for the wedding. I have gotten a few more addresses added to the wedding list, the music picked out and organized for the wedding (except what my sisters are going to sing), and I have stuffed all the invitations!

At least I have been productive and haven't been wasting my days!

Here is Nikki enjoying the snowy day yesterday...

16 January 2007

It's SNOWING!! :) Yup...that is right...another day off from work because we are iced in and it is snowing. Everyone in Colorado is laughing at us right now!

It has been fun though. Travis and I are hanging out at his house. Here are some pictures of our walk down the street.

15 January 2007

Iced In! So, I'm sitting here with nothing to do because the roads are icy and the weather is ridiculous! It is my day off and I have nowhere to go. They said that the weather is supposed to worse tomorrow, so I could be here for awhile.

I am just catching up on laundry and wedding planning today. I have actually been pretty productive. I worked on my gift registry. I am registered at Target, Home Depot and Dillard's. Judy (Travis' mom) has a friend in The Woodlands that is throwing us a shower in February. I got that guest list completed and sent to Judy. However, I am running out of things to do. Next, is stuffing invitations! Yay! It really feels like I'm getting married now.

14 January 2007

Travis and I went to Arlington this weekend and met his parents up there. We got several things accomplished. We got their family dinner planned and organized. Then we got the hotel picked out for their family to stay at for the wedding. It is actually a really cool hotel (not as cool as our honeymoon suite)! Then we made some dress decisions, looked at the invitations (now I get to stuff them all) and then decided what to do about flowers. Unfortunately, the weather was starting to get bad and we had to head back to Austin last night. If we had stayed, the weather people said that we would be stuck in Arlington until Tuesday. I wouldn't have had a problem with that, but Travis has to work tomorrow and he has some pretty important meetings happening this week. I have off tomorrow so I will be finalizing the guest list and stuffing invitations. I am excited to start getting stuff done!

Okay, I have a funny story...My nephew Lafe absoultely loves Travis! Travis has become his personal jungle gym. All day yesterday Lafe was jumping on him, asking him to flip him, asking him to lift him up like he was lifting weights, etc. It was cute! This morning Travis called me and said, "My lower back hurts. My chest hurts and my abs are sore." I responded, "Why is that?" Without hesitation he said, "Lafe! Lafe is why they hurt!!" It was funny!

06 January 2007

I'm getting organized! I am adding more and more addresses to the list and feeling a little less overwhelmed. Next weekend I'm going up to Arlington with Bill and Judy McHam. We are going to do some planning for the reception and the Harlan family (Judy's side of the family) get-together. Mom and I are going to work on getting the music picked out for the sisters to sing. I am trying to get all the recorded music together so that I can get that approved also. I'm having a hard time finding music that fits with my song for the rest of the wedding. I just want it to flow. I have to find songs for the grandparents, parents and I think I have the one for the bridal party. It will all come together. I still have to pick out the flowers and get them ordered...but we have time for that.
I scheduled my bridal portrait with Donald for February and I am so excited. I think we are going to go to the same place Lara Jane had pictures done (I hope that is okay with her)!

I have my second interview at the church for the Directory of Elementary on Tuesday and I would definitely appreciate your prayers. I'm excited about this opportunity.

Life is good. I have a wonderful Husband-to-be and the most amazing family ever! I have absolutely nothing to complain about!

Love...JK

03 January 2007

Wow, so, I didn't realize exactly how much stuff needed to be done for the wedding since I was so focused on the holidays! I am starting to feel a little more stress with the planning. It isn't bad, just enough stress to get me motivated to move! :)
I have been working on updating the guest list, so Travis and I have been on the phone and checking our email constantly trying to verify addresses. I think we are almost done with that. The invitations have come in so we are getting prepared to get them all addressed and ready to go out.
Travis and I have had some problems getting in touch with the guy who going to do our premarital counseling, but we finally got it all set and we start next Thursday. We are going to meet every Thursday after work. I'm pretty excited to get started.
That is about it for tonight. I'm tired!

30 December 2006

Well, Christmas is over and the New Year is about to begin! I hope you all had a great holiday season.

For Christmas, Travis and I headed to Arlington to spend a day with my family. Then we headed to College Station to spend the day with Travis' extended family (the Warden side) and then ended up in The Woodlands (Houston) for the rest of the weekend. It was so much fun! We got a lot of great presents and he has already made himself a work bench in his garage with all the tools he got for Christmas! He is super excited about building a bunch of stuff...I guess we need to invest in a shopvac now...right Dad?! :)

The wedding plans are going very well. We almost have all the names and address together to get the invitations addressed and sent out. Apparently, the invitations came in, but weren't printed right, so we had to send them back to get reprinted. Hopefully they will be there by Tuesday. Anyway, the cakes have been picked out and Mom has been hard at work on the dresses. I getting really excited!
Not a lot is happening other than wedding planning and settling down from the holidays. I am going to the store now to get some Tenderloins...that is right, I cook! :)

Love...JK

For those of you who need a reminder of what Travis looks like, here is a picture...don't worry...he hasn't changed a bit!! ;)

10 December 2006

Texas is not supposed to be this cold! Wow! I sure am pulling out all my coats. I love this weather because you can build fires!! :)

Anyway, Travis and I are at his parents' house in The Woodlands in Houston. His mother's birthday was yesterday so we came down to celebrate with her and her friends. It has been a good weekend. We are getting ready to head to church, but apparently I get ready faster at other peoples' houses than I do at my own. I have time to kill!

I don't have much to update on really. We are heading back to Austin this afternoon after we go see a movie with his parents.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!! :)

Love to you all...
JK

04 December 2006

It has been a very productive past few days!

Friday at work we moved offices. We moved from the third floor to the first floor. The work that we do is sensitive information and compliance related. So, the big wigs thought we needed more security. Therefore, we moved to a more secluded area of the building. At least we have plenty of people in our department to keep us entertained.
Then our softball team had a game at 6:30pm. We won! We have played three games and won two of them. It is great to get back into the game. Our team is a small group from church and it is just fun to get out there and have fun with a bunch of other Christians! I have met some great people through the group.

Saturday Travis and I went shopping to get most of our presents purchased. We pretty much finished off our lists! It feels so good to get the shopping done and out of the way instead of waiting to the last minute. I do have some more people on my list to buy for, but I haven't quite decided what to get them yet.

Speaking of which...check out giftduck.com! It is an awesome site where you can build a wishlist all year long (so you aren't trying to remember everything you wanted at Christmas time) and only those who you have invited to your Friends list can see it. It sends reminders about birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Check it out!

It was good to have a weekend without travel. Just time to do whatever was on my to do list. It is nice every once in awhile to just be able to come and go as you please without any thoughts of timelines or obligations to be anywhere.

Still trying to fight a cold that I have had since Thanksgiving. Other than that...life it great!!

Love,
JK

30 November 2006

Today was a hard, long day at work. Since my promotion I have spent more time putting out fires and in meetings which has kept me in the office well after 6:00pm. It has been fun though!

Travis and I are decorating his house for Christmas. For the first time ever...I have Christmas lights! :) This is my last Christmas as a Bridgwater and my first to spend with my future husband.

We are making the wedding plans and time is quickly slipping away from us! It is 3 and a half months away. We finally picked out the invitations and should have those soon. We also picked out the cakes! I'm so excited! Mom has done a great job of getting the dresses started. She is such an amazing woman. After 4 weddings she has this routine down! :) I have picked out most of the music, but there are a few songs I am stuck on. I keep forgetting about all the parts of the ceremony where you usually have music. Ugh! I'll get it together before the day of...hopefully. I am beginning to have dreams (nightmares) about the wedding. Mostly about the day before or hours before the ceremony. I really don't think about it much and I haven't worried or panicked over anything so far, so I'm not really sure where these dreams are coming from.

Travis and I are about to head out to dinner with our good friend Larry. So, I better get off Travis' computer so we can go.

Love you to all!

JK

20 November 2006

So, it has been a really long time since I posted anything on here. The biggest piece of news is...I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! Yup...that's right. I am going to be Jana Kay McHam. The wedding is set for March 17th, 2006 in Arlington, TX.

Don't really have a lot to say right now...I'll try and keep posting. :)

08 May 2006

Here I am, living in Austin, Texas and couldn't be happier! I started my new job today and I really think I am going to enjoy it. We started building the database that we are going to be working out of to call the agents and check up on their licensing. I really like the group that I am working with and training with. I'm ready to start a new day!

I got to visit Travis' parents in Houston last week and it was a blast! I got to spend some time with Judy and chat about her "wonderful son". Bill, of course, is the most adorable man ever! He makes me laugh...:) His favorite game is "make JK snort". While I was there, I was able to have dinner with Winkle Danny and Aunt Norma. It was fun to get to see them and catch up.

It is time to go to bed now so that I can actually get up in time for work tomorrow. Love to all...

JK

20 April 2006

I've almost had a full week in Austin. Not a lot has happened really. I am not living with my friend Amy like I had planned on. In fact, it is better! I am now staying in a three bedroom apartment that a friend of Travis has just moved out of. I am just paying her as much as I would have Amy so it has all worked out nicely.

There may be a chance that I will have a roommate by the time I am ready to get my own place at the end of May. My friend Laura here has another friend Emily who needs a roommate. I am going to meet her Saturday and we will see what happens.

Not a lot is going on so that is about it for now. Travis and I are going out tonight with Amy and Don. I'm excited! :) This will be my first "social" thing since I moved here! :) Yay!! :)

13 April 2006

I am in TEXAS!!! Mom flew up to Denver and we drove down together. She flew in on Tuesday evening and we left straight from the airport. We drove to Burlington, CO, right on the border of Colorado and Kansas. We stayed over night there and headed out in the morning. We drove through Oklahoma City, OK and got to see Uncle Jerry and Aunt Coni. We only stayed about an hour and drove on to Wayne to stay with Grandma Helen and Grandpa Jack for the night. We got up this morning and headed out once again and got to Arlington around noon and had lunch with Juli Beth and her family. Now I am resting at Mom and Dad's house after a hot, long afternoon of unloading my trailer into a storage unit. Ice water is really good!! :)

Tomorrow, Travis flies into Dallas and is going to spend the weekend with me and my family and then drive on to Austin with me for the final leg of my move! I can't wait to see him!! :)

Well, I'm out. My nephews want to play!! Yay!!

Love!

31 March 2006

I found Skye a home! A guy named Adam took her and he has a big backyard for her to run around in. He goes up to the mountains a lot too so she will have lots of adventures. He had Huskies growing up so he knows what he is getting himself into. It was a little awkward last night and this morning. I didn't have her jumping around on the bed when I was trying to go to sleep and she wasn't standing at the front door wagging her nub to go outside. It was lonely, but I can make another two weeks until I get to have Mom here with me. :)

The moving plans are coming along. The guy who is interested in subletting my apartment hasn't gotten back to me in awhile so I am hoping that he is still interested. I won't have to worry about buying out my lease then!

Speaking of money...my car broke on Monday. Apparently the head gasket decided to break. I think my car just knows it is about to have to make a long trip again. This will make money tight as I am trying to move, but with God's direction it will work out.

That is about all the new stuff I have for now. Love you all...

JK

25 March 2006

Yay! I have my computer back! It feels so good to have easy communication back. I am so not a phone person.

Today I am just running around town delivering all the things that I have sold so far. I am headed home in just a litttle bit to get some cleaning and packing done before I have guests over tonight.

I am selling a lot of my stuff so I can make my move to Austin easier and less expensive. So far I have sold my tv trays, my tv, and my dvd player. I was suppose to meet a family this morning from Colorado Springs to see if they wanted Skye, but they never showed up. I was disappointed because they seemed really nice and they sounded perfect for Skye. He is paster at the 1st Southern Baptist church in the springs. Oh well. I have a couple more people that I think she would do well with that are interested.

Work is going well. They have given me a couple of projects that will keep me busy for the next two weeks. Then...I am outta there! I am excited to get down to Austin and start over. I wonder if I will ever be the type to have a long career in one area. I am too adventurous I think.

Well, I should get going. Love to you all! :)

21 March 2006

My computer is fixed!! WOOHOO!!! Thank you Dadda!

It will be nice to have my computer back and working again so I don't have to keep going to the library and going downstairs at work to use the "safe zone". Yea!

Life is really good right now. I got a job in Austin, Texas and I am headed down there the weekend of April 14th. I'm so excited. It will be nice to be near the family again.

Not a lot has been happening so I don't have much to say. I love you all and can't wait to be near you again!

02 March 2006

Hello everyone! Wow, it sure has been a long time! I am using someone else's computer right now so this won't be too long of an entry.

My laptop is getting fixed! WooHoo! I shipped it to my wonderful father because he found someone who will fix it for a lot cheaper than anyone out here. So, there is no telling when I will actually get it back, but hey, at least it is getting done right!? So, until then please bear with me and my random entries.

I am job hunting in Texas right now. The hunt is going...slowly...but it is going. I have had several interviews and second interviews, but nothing seems to be coming through. I have some more things in the works, so hopefully soon I will get down there. I am hoping to be down there by the end of April. I am considering just picking up and going because it would be so much easier to find a job locally. That isn't very realistic or smart, but I'm getting frustrated!

Anyway, life is good. Things are chugging along and I am surviving. Things here at work are a little stressful and more and more changes are coming with the merger. That is the biggest reason I want to get out of here faster!

Okay, enough of that! I gotta get out of here! Have a great night and until my next entry...

JK

13 December 2005

I apologize for not updating my blog for an entire month! My laptop is officially trash!! Yes, that is right, my hard drive crashed. So, I have lost everything and I am trying to remember all my passwords for all the different sites that I use. It has been quite an adventure.

My life...hasn't really changed a lot since I wrote something on here. Rob and I have officially stopped talking...at all. Work is going well. Life is...good.

I found out that a very good family friend died and all I wanted to do was go home (to Texas). I am intensifying my search for jobs in Texas. I have found some great opportunities, but we will see what happens.

I am at the library, so I have a time limit and that is just about up. I hope this finds everyone in good spirits and good health. Love you all and can't wait to see all of you at Christmas!

JK

18 October 2005

Well, today was a little better. Rob and I are on talking terms, but there is still a lot of tension between us. I think that I have pretty much decided to tell him that it is time for me to back away from the whole situation and for us both to figure things out on our own. We are both at different stages of our lives and he doesn't need one more thing to worry about right now. Besides, I have to figure out what God wants for me...not what I want for me! (I know I am repeating myself from yesterday, but this is something I have to remind myself of often!)

Anyway, enough about Rob and the drama in my life!

I got to talk to a really good friend of mine tonight. I haven't talked to him in awhile and I definitely missed our conversations. He and I always have the most wonderful, God filled, and lengthly conversations. This boy and I stayed up until 8:00 in the morning one time when I lived in OKC. It was a blast!!

He always helps me clear my head and refocus on what is important...God! He is going to do such great things for the Lord! His heart is so pure and so filled with a desire to do nothing outside of God's will. He never plans...just waits. I learn so much from him every time we talk. I thank God for people like him in my life.

Well, I'm off to bed! Goodnight!

YAY!!! LJ IS PREGNANT!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! :) I love you sister!

16 October 2005

Well, this past week and weekend can be summed up in one word...DRAMA! My goodness...

I must be the type of person that just attracts drama. No matter what I do or who I hang out with...there it is...following me like some little annoying fly...ugh!

So, you wonder what kind of drama is occuring in Denver, CO? I'll tell you! First, things at work couldn't be more political, but where is it not, and it seems that I have signed myself up for more than I can handle. Actually, it's more like they have assigned me more than I can handle. Oh well, I guess I just have to make the best of what I've got and let them know that I am just one person...not an entire department!

Second, my personal life. Now, I know this is a favorite subject of everyone's since my personal life always seems to get screwed up somehow. Well, this weekend the timeline went something like this...

Friday: Rob and Jana Kay get in a huge fight and decide to go their separate ways.
Saturday: Jana Kay goes to the first swim meet of the season anyway to support the swimmers.
All the swimmers want to know why she is sitting in the stands and not on the deck
like all the other coaches.
Rob and Jana Kay talk after the meet is over and Jana Kay surprisingly keeps her cool
and doesn't yell at Rob.
Sunday: Jana Kay returns to the meet and sits on deck with the swimmers and is able to coach.

Happy ending...sort of...

Jana Kay is still rethinking her commitment to the team and how much time that requires around Rob. Jana Kay is thinking it is time to step back and think about her own life and where God wants her to go and what His purpose for her is.

So, after all that, I am taking time to listen to God and find out what exactly His purpose is for me. I am being pulled in several different directions and I am having a hard time even forming a complete thought. I feel like my world is spinning so fast that I can't even open my eyes to get an idea of what is happening around me.

Just pray for me! Love you all!! :)

My home phone isn't working right now...use my cell!! :)

12 October 2005

This is my first post in awhile, and I do apologize! My life has been...well, my life!

Since the last time I posted an entry on here I can't really say that I have done a whole lot, but I have been busy and couldn't tell you exactly why. It has been several of those kind of days!

Right now, I am faced with a huge decision. It is a career decision, so please be praying for me. For those of my sisters I have not talked to yet...just wait, I'm calling this week (you too Dadda)! :) Just pray that you will be open to what is said and that I in turn will be open to what you have to say about the choices.

I am so completely drained of all brain power and energy right now. I have several little projects going at work and then the personal life added to that never makes it easier! I am having fun though. I am finding time to have a social life and branch out! Yes, I actually have a life!! :)

It is sleepy time now as I have to get up early in the morning for a presentation at work.

Love you all and kisses to everyone! :)

19 September 2005

So, I haven't exactly gotten better at posting these everyday. I will get better I promise! :)

Bob (my former boss) came back to work today. He has finally gotten his parents somewhat settled at his house and felt that he was able to come in. I am really glad that he did because it was nice to be able to tell him about the changes at the credit union and not have to worry about him finding out some other way. He took the news okay. He isn't really happy about the changes, but he has a meeting with the boss lady tomorrow to talk it out. He is also going to address some H.R. issues that need to be dealt with concerning the way that I was treated while he was gone.

You know, I say a lot of bad stuff about work because of all the things that have been happening. There are a couple of good things about it too. One is that there are some really dynamic and talented people working there. They are determined, creative, and energetic. I really hope that they can turn the credit union around like they want to. Another good thing is that people are starting to open up more to training and they aren't as negative about it anymore. I like to believe that I had something to do that. ;)

It is a very interesting place to work and I wish them all the best of luck. I don't know how much longer I will be here, but I am going to make the most of it.

I have been named the Chairman of Fundraising for X-Swim (Robie's team). I am also helping out with coaching a little more consistantly since Brandon left. I love that team! The kids are so wonderful!! I am thankful that Rob and I have been able to stay friends and that I am still able to support the team. So far, we have had a car wash and we raised a lot of money from that. We also had a bake sale and I am selling the left overs at work. (Those people love to eat!) We are really bringing in some good money and I really haven't had to do a lot. The fundraisers I'm coming up with are great because the swimmers and parents are the ones who do all the work! :) It allows me to do my full-time job and contribute something to the team without getting overwhelmed or obligated in too many areas (that was for you Mom).

I am going to start training in the mornings again so that I don't try and cram everything into my schedule for after work. As complicated as life is at work right now, things are really working out well for me. Thank you everyone for the prayers and thoughts as I have been going through this ordeal!

I love you all and miss you lots!! :) Sweet dreams...

16 September 2005

So, it has been awhile since I have written anything on here...8 days to be exact! Sorry to leave you all hanging, but I have had one heck of a week!!

For all of you left on the edge of your seats...I got next to last in Fantasy Football for the first week! :( Oh well...It only gets better from here! :)

Work...oh good ol' work. In the past week my title has changed from Training Coordinator to Training Education Specialist (I actually had to convince them to give me that title instead of the longer one Training Education and Business Development Specialist), my boss has changed (I now work under Janie who is our VP of marketing and sales instead of Bob, VP of HR), and ladies...just ask me about the man in uniform!

So, needless to say I have been on an emotional rollercoaster with no brakes! This is the first time that I have had the chance to even think about updating everyone who might read this. I figured I should get to it since I have my family reading this and they like to know what is happening. Sorry Family!!!

Now I am starting to ramble. I believe it is time to go to bed because my brain is shutting down. It keeps doing that lately without any warning. I need a recharge so badly!!! Christmas can't come soon enough!!

Love you all...kiss your children and hug each other for me. I miss you all so much!!

07 September 2005

Well, I decided to go with Roy Williams tomorrow instead of David Givens. We'll see how my first line up does! The first game is tomorrow, so I am on the edge of my seat! :)

Today was interesting. I went into work early and got a few things done before I had to start my full day of training in Credit. About lunch time I started feeling pretty rotten and took the rest of the day off to rest. I stayed home and slept! Well, actually I talked to DL for awhile and then slept! It has been nice to get to chat with her on messenger every once in awhile.

I guess I should get to bed so that I feel like waking up in the morning. I'm still feeling kinda woozy, so I hope this goes away by morning!

Goodnight!

06 September 2005

Well, I submitted my first line up for the season today! I am excited to see how this all turns out. I think it will be a good experience overall. :) Although, I do have a questionable player on my roster. David Givens...he is having chest pains...come on...doesn't he know that I'm counting on him?! Anyway, It isn't that big of a deal I guess, I do have Roy Williams waiting to step in for him.

Brother-In-Laws and Dadda: Don't be surprised if I give you a few calls during the season...I might need some help! :)

Today was pretty busy at work. All I did was sit with our new I.S. team member as she observed the credit department, but I feel like I was going all day non-stop! Tomorrow, I am doing the same thing and will continue to do that for the next three weeks as she visits all the departments, plus all the other training that has been scheduled. This should be interesting.

My boss took off last week to get his parents out of Louisiana where they were staying in a hotel because they had lost everything. Their entire house is under water and they were basically homeless and his mother has Parkinsons (or however you spell it...Dava Lynn...:) ). Then, on their way back, their car broke down in Memphis. So, needless to say, I will be covering for my boss until next week! Please keep that family in your prayers! They are really needing it right now.

Well, I better get some sleep! This is going to be a long week!

So, today, for Labor Day, I finished unpacking most of my boxes and cleaning up my new apartment. Then, I went to Castle Rock to participate in my first ever Fantasy Football Draft!! Yes, brother-in-laws...I am now the coolest sister-in-law you have or ever will have!! :) It was very interesting. Nothing like what I thought it would be. Basically, all the guys hated me by the end of it because, apparently, I was taking all the best players. Whatever! They got Payton Manning! Anyway, I ended up pretty well off! They were all raving about what a great team I had and how it was probably the best in the league...blah blah blah. They were just saying that because I'm cute...right Dava Lynn!? ;) Just kidding! :) I had a blast!!

Tomorrow it is back to work. I have so much coming up in October that I am not sure September will be long enough to get ready for it all. It is amazing how life has its seasons (okay not actually spring, summer, etc. seasons). It seems that life calms down for just a month or so and then time just speeds up. I can't imagine what it is like for all of my sisters being mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters!! I admire you all! :)

Well, I think that is it for tonight. I'm exhausted and I have to be ready for a busy week ahead of me! Good night!! :)

04 September 2005

I don't really have a lot to say today. Yesterday was pretty uneventful and today was the same. It has been great to just relax. I guess I'll just keep relaxing for the rest of today! WooHoo!

Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do tomorrow for Labor Day?! :)

02 September 2005

Wow...It is one o'clock in the afternoon and I am already exhausted! I am babysitting the empty branch again today and didn't get over here until about 12:30pm. This morning was crazy!! My boss is out of town and so is Rich (our maintanance guy). So, this morning about 9:15am two men walk into the lobby ready to check our sprinkler system for the fire alarms. I had no idea they were coming! Kathy (our branch manager) and I had to hunt down the information needed to get ahold of the fire alarm company and by 10:00am the men were testing our system. By about 10:15am I had opened every door they needed access to and was on my way to the other branches to do the mail run (which was supposed to take place at 9:30am). By 11:00am I was back at the main branch delivering mail around the building. After being stopped about a million times by different people who needed something else done "before you go over to the other branch" it was noon and way past time for me to leave! I am finally over here having some peace and quiet for the rest of the day. I sure can't wait until Bob (my boss) gets back. I sure don't envy him with all the high demands everyday!

Anyway! I am now able to sit and relax in the quiet, lonely branch! I get internet tonight at my apartment!! :) WooHoo!! :) Now I will have something to do at home besides watch movies and read.

Now that I have completely rambled on and bored everyone reading this...I will go now. Have a wonderful weekend and Labor Day!! :)

Tonight after work I went to help Robie with swim practice. Brandon, the assistant coach, is really giving him problems. I hope this gets sorted out quickly!

I am thankful that this is a long weekend!! Thank you Labor Day! :) It is a much needed break.

Tina from work has a bunch of furniture that she needs to get rid of, so I am going over there Sunday to see if I want any of it. Maybe I'll find something...

Right now I am so tired and it is so late that I really have no idea what I am writing. I hope I don't regret this in the morning!! :) Just kidding!

Tomorrow I am looking forward to a day for just Skye and me! I figure I will take her up to the mountains one more time before it gets too cold. Although, these gas prices are killing!! Maybe I should save the gas and not take her. It is already at an average of $3.00 per gallon here. It is crazy!

Alright, I guess it is time for bed...I'm starting to ramble. Night everyone!!

So, yesterday, Amy and I were chatting online and were really really really bored. We got on the subject of blogs and how everyone was creating their own blogs these days. So, we got the bight idea to make one ourselves! WooHoo! :) So, here I am, putting my first entry in. I am sitting at work "babysitting" the branch that we closed in May! It is so boring over here. Anyway, I will have internet hooked up at my apartment tomorrow, so I will be able to update everyone at the end of my days from now on. :) Hope you enjoy...Amy!! :)
