Today I experienced a mother's fear. I have fed Jayden french fries galore! She loves them and she does very well with them. However, she had never experienced the potato wedges from Fuddrucker's. She LOVES them! But...I will never ever give them to her again...
This afternoon we went to lunch at Fuddrucker's with several of our friends from church. The ladies were on one end chatting with each other and the men were on the other end...talking about who knows what. We were all happy...all healthy...all eating! I gave Jayden a potato wedge...thinking nothing of it. A few seconds later my heart stopped as I realized that my daughter...my beautiful, precious, sweet, amazing little girl was CHOKING! I waited a second to see if it was just gagging her and she would spit it out. NOPE! She was really CHOKING! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Okay...so my training comes into play. My heart is pounding, my head spinning and I quickly pick my daughter up, turn her over, place her on my knee facing the floor and POUND! Apparently I didn't have to hit her more than once because I flung her around so hard it came out before my hand made contact with her back.
Thank you GOD!!!! Ugh! I was shaking, Travis was sitting next to me with eyes wide open and finally taking a breath. Looking around I realized that everyone was going on about the conversations and eating their lunch. WHAT IN THE WORLD! Didn't they realize my baby girl just survived a horrible experience?!
Everything is fine and Jayden was playing and laughing not 2 seconds after the food was out of her mouth. It is just so amazing how much your world changes with your little ones. I never want to experience my life without her!
Even though, inside, I was panicking and scared, my friends said that my reaction was seamless! :) Good to know that I can react in a situation like that instead of freezing!
Praise God for his protection and watchful eyes!!!!
